The 44 non-contiguous parcels that make up this ownership are largely found between Wausau, Rhinelander, Medford and Antigo in North-Central Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin River Valley property was formerly owned and managed by Wausau Timberlands Company, a subsidiary of Wausau Paper. These lands had been acquired as part of a strategic holding to furnish fiber to the paper mill owned by the company. This particular area had seen a great deal of development over the last 20 years and pressures for rural home development and recreational land, made much of this area prime for higher and better use.
Over 50% of the productive ground is dominated by young Aspen. Other significant cover types present include: Northern Hardwoods and natural stands of Upland and Lowland Conifers. A very small portion of the ownership has been converted to red pine plantation. Productive ground with decent access has been actively managed for decades.
